Leading Wireless Enterprise Mobility Solutions provider deploys Fiorano SOA for messaging and integration

FioranoESB improves message processing capability five-fold and SLA commitments over 80%

July 7, 2011, Los Gatos, CA. – Fiorano Software (www.fiorano.com), a leader in distributed integration technology, announced today that its SOA Platform has been deployed by Unicel Technologies, a leading provider of wireless enterprise mobility solutions. Unicel has deployed Fiorano SOA as their primary middleware architecture, distributed across multiple data centers to enhance performance and reliability.

"We have ambitious plans, and executing those in the current competitive environment required investment in a reliable, scalable, high performance infrastructure. With Fiorano we achieved a positive ROI on our SOA implementation in just a few months. Message processing capability has increased five-fold and SLA commitments have improved by 80%. Most importantly, it has given us a clear line of sight for increasing performance by another five-fold in the coming months. It has been a tr emendous force multiplier for us.", said Vinay Agrrawal, Managing Director, Unicel Technologies.

Fiorano SOA allows Unicel to achieve record message transmissions of 52 million messages per day at the operator end, a feat that would have been impossible prior to implementing Fiorano.

"FioranoMQ's high performance messaging combined with a standards-based ESB allows us to deliver an enterprise-class solution at a competitive cost. Integration for wireless and mobile telecom players is a determinant of competitive advantage, revolutionizing interactions between different players in the value chain. Unicel has pioneered carrier-level integration of mobility solutions, thereby offering enterprises more visibility into the status of messages sent out and higher levels of control. The Fiorano SOA gives them the ideal middleware platform to achieve the scalability and speed they need to compete effectively in today's wireless marketplace." said Atul Saini, CEO & CTO, Fiorano Software.

Prior to Fiorano, Unicel deployed multiple C, C++ and Java based applications to manage message processing - in effect, trying to play the role of middleware. This rudimentary architecture suffered from significant bottlenecks, compromising security, reliability and scalability.

In search of a suitable middleware solution, Mr. Aggrawal and his team started with a shortlist of open source and commercial ESB brokers including Fiorano, IBM, Fuse and Progress. After conducting a rigorous proof-of-concept, the engineering team at Unicel selected Fiorano as their preferred solution. Their analysis concluded that some of the other ESBs were not designed ground-up for distributed computing, had lower throughput, while others required extensive custom coding and consulting services.

Fiorano delivered high-performance, low-latency messaging as well as real-time event processing - all key requirements in telecommunications where high-throughput is critical to business performance. Scalability, ease-of-use and re-usability were also key advantages of Fiorano SOA as business flows only need to be designed only once and then could be rapidly replicated across multiple installations of the Fiorano peer server world-wide.

Spurred by the tremendous success, Mr. Vinay Agrrawal has big plans for the future. In addition to the currently active SMS service, he and his team plan to move services such as Voice, Data and their entire billing system onto the Fiorano platform, where middleware will be the key in generating call detail records.
