Fiorano Powers Trading Platform for leading Billion-Dollar Hedge Fund

With more than double the message throughput of competing JMS Servers, FioranoMQ wins in demanding trading environment

LOS GATOS, California, February 23, 2010 – Fiorano Software (www.fiorano.com), pioneer in peer-to-peer distributed integration, today announced that its lowest latency, highest throughput JMS Server, FioranoMQ, has been deployed by a leading US hedge fund.

The hedge fund had built an electronic trading platform around Microsoft MQ and another commercial JMS product about eight years ago. However, the system failed to scale with customer growth and increased competition. They needed a robust solution to support their highly available and fault-tolerant messaging requirements. They ran FioranoMQ through several stringent testing scenarios and finally decided to rebuild their entire electronic trading and real-time profit and loss systems on FioranoMQ.

"FioranoMQ not only had superior message throughput, but its multiple configuration capabilities and flexible architecture enabled us to extend the system ourselves in real time. Whenever we have questions or problems, Fiorano's customer support has always been very responsive and helpful," said VP of Software Development, Hedge Fund Company.

"In electronic trading, each message represents a financial transaction. Our success executing a trade is contingent on the speed at which we process transactions and deliver them to market. With multiple transactions processing at a time, message throughput was an important factor that we had to take into serious consideration," explains the VP; "Additional requirements included ease-of-management and ease-of-integration into the existing infrastructure, all with on-demand customizability. A final, critical requirement was speed under high stress, High-Availability conditions where redundant copies of the software execute in parallel, ensuring that a failure of any hardware or software module does not impact user response times."

Fiorano's JMS Server met all requirements with an added feature being its native .NET and Java API's that enabled seamless integration into the trading system, significantly increasing functionality and utility.

"For over ten years now, FioranoMQ has been rated as the best-performing JMS Server in the market, consistently outperforming competitive products, both commercial and open-source, on a variety of JMS performance benchmarks. Coupled with low-latency and a robust HA implementation, and support for multi-language APIs (Java, C, C++ and C#), FioranoMQ is the logical choice for Financial Services and Investment companies", said Atul Saini, CEO & CTO Fiorano Software, Inc.
