US Coast Guard Launches SOA Initiative with Fiorano SOA Platform
Peer-to-Peer ESB Pioneer Helps Track 6,000 Ships Spanning US Coastal Waters
Executive Summary
"US Coast Guard, America's guardian of maritime economy, decided to implement an enterprise architecture solution to fully connect their business applications and information architecture. They wanted to build an event-driven, document-based integration infrastructure which is compliant with their architecture. US Coast Guard evaluated more than a dozen vendors on numerous critical criteria including overall cost, installation, maintenance, tool sets, debugging, administering applications, feature support and performance metrics on proof-of-concept, and finally selected Fiorano Platform to power their SOA initiative.
One of the first SOA initiatives of Coast Guard is Long Range Identification Tracking (LRIT) system, proposed by Coast Guard at International Maritime Organization (IMO) as an aftermath of 9/11 attacks. Fiorano ESB powered LRIT system of Coast Guard, has helped Coast Guard track more than 6,000 ships in US coastal waters, thereby facilitating coastal security of America."
