Kent County Council

Commercial Services, a trading/services arm of the Kent County, has been providing services to the local bodies of the county. One of the projects of the Commercial Services wing was to buy electricity from power generators in UK and supply it to the local bodies and bill them.

KCC needed a robust system to automate the processes including purchase and validation of electricity and billing to the customers. Toyota

Toyota, one of the largest motor vehicle companies in New Zealand, realized the need of streamlining their auction processes via e-enablement of the system. A message queue was required to facilitate the server to publish bids and lot data dynamically and subscription to clients to bid for the auction.

Toyota chose FioranoMQ which allowed the clients who were connecting from behind firewalls and proxies, to specify the proxy at run time. This allowed the company to gather all necessary connection information from the browser without the user having to set up any properties or manually configure the applet. The online auction environment enabled the processing and publishing of 50+ bids per second with 200 connected clients.
